Trip Report Back in Florida, 2022 #1

We only made it halfway out today when we turned back from big swells and a short period. Initial destination was the Wreck Trek, that got modified to a reef dive at Bluffs, but that didn't work either. It was bigger than yesterday going out of the inlet, we got slammed a couple of times. Seas were mostly about 6 feet with very short period

A good try by Captain Tim, back again tomorrow to try for Lemon Drop

Yuck! Better to be onshore and doing something else for sure.

Very nice large male loggerhead. They are definitely back waiting for the ladies to arrive. They'll start nesting in another month or so.

Love those dinner plate size Angel fish and that massive loggerhead. He looked like he was up to no good when you found him- that look in his eyes was very suspicious.

The size of the Angel Fish in SE Florida has always amazed me. Never seen bigger anywhere else.

JDC cancelled today's trip to Lemon Drop yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, @Dan and I were able to line up 2 dives with Starfish out of Boynton Harbor Marina.

Exit out of the Boynton Inlet was uneventful and seas started, as advertised, at 2-3 ft. The wind did pick up while we were out and there were times with bigger swells. The day was mostly overcast, we got light to moderate showers a few times. Water was 74-76 degrees and visibility was around 50 ft.

Our first dive started outside at Clubhouse and crossed over to some of Gulfstream and Black Condo. Our second dive was inside at Briny Breezes, through Jerry's No Name to Casle Ledge. Nothing spectacular on the dives, no sharks, no turtles. However, all the usual reef fish were out in numbers as well a Green Moray, Spotted Moray, and happy lobster, as we were not hunting. The reef continues to be the best of SE FL, in my opinion.

Capt Chris and his wife, Julie, did a great job on the boat. Dan and I got in over 2 hours of fun diving. That's it for this short visit, we go out with Dolphin Dream tomorrow. Sorry, I have no photos, I believe Dan got some nice video today.

Awesome video- what light/filter/tray setup do you use with your GoPro? The colors are great.

I can never get the trunkfish to look at me- they stay close, but always turn their head away!

I’m using Sea&Sea tray for Sea&Sea DX6G camera and put GoPro10 on the DX6G hot shoe. The lights are two of Weefine Solar Flare 5000. No filter other than the GoPro color set to Vibrant and White balance to auto.

@Dan and I have had a fantastic time in Tiger Beach on the Dolphin Dream so far. Tiger Sharks, Lemon Sharks, and Reef Sharks all over the place. We are in Bimini now, last 2 days of diving, hoping to see Great Hammerheads
