Hi everyone,
I just got back a couple of days ago from 5 days in Cozumel. It's just as nice as I remember from the first time I went there-pre huricane. My buddie and I stayed at the Villa Blanca next to Papa Hogs, since Caribe Blu was sold out. We dove with Blue Angel. The accomidations were slightly cramped but the room was clean and the AC was cold. The weather the first two days we were there was perfect. On friday afternoon toward the end of our afternoon dive an "El Norte" blew in. It was was really quite windy and choppy on the water after that until monday. No matter, the diving was of course excellent. I dove Columbia Deep and Shallows, Santa Rosa wall, Punta Sur Devils Throat, Chun Chukaab, Palancar Bricks, Paradise, and some others that I don't remember now. 100ft vis and 79 deg water-Umm Umm Goood!

When we weren't diving we were mostly eating at Primas, Lobsteria, La Paroquia, and Hog town Cafe. A new place we found is a Cuban place called El Casino down near the French Quarter. They make a delicious Mojito and whip up a really mean white habenjero sauce.

Looking forward to going back again sometime later this year. In the mean time see you all at the lake this summer!

John

Sounds like you had a good time and some great diving. How long before you can stand to immerse yourself in the local liquids again? We had 20+ft of vis at mansfield wednesday evening.

Good to hear business is booming at Caribe Blue, to bad you were not able to book a room there. Maybe we need to quit singing their praises so loudly on the board so we have a chance of getting a room

I was going to try for today, but I have to much to do. Good to hear the vis is up. I hope that it continues to get better after the run off from rain settles down some.

As far as Caribe Blu goes-probably not to hard to sell out there 18 or so rooms during spring break, or anytime during the summer givin there location.

Hey Shaggie, Thanks for the trip report. I'm glad you had a great time in Coz. Anyway, I booked 4 days with Caribe Blu in July and I'm hoping for great weather in the middle of a hurricane season:)
