Hi,

My bf and I returned last night from Roatan. Taking today to decompress and slowly reacclimate to the NY vibe :( but will write a full report with pics in coming days. In the meantime, wanted to post a warning head's up on Paya Bay Resort where we stayed the week. Tripadvisor had favorable reviews and SB had relatively nothing so we decided to stay with less than positive results. Will explain more later but felt strongly enough to post this today in case any SB'ers are considering a stay here.

Please feel free to contact me independently with any questions but will explain more in a post to come shortly.

Mary

Will look forward to your report. Both the good and bad side of your experience. Mostly the pics though :D

Really:confused: I just searched using "paya bay" and got 38 threads!

I tried to warn you about TripAdvisor http://scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=167776

Yes, you "owe" us a report!

Ha, I was going to say that about TripAdvisor but didn't want to rub salt in the wound, lol.

Even not researching previous threads, I wish you would have started your own asking for recommendations. So you could get "The Families (SB)," thoughts, opinions, recommendations.

Mary, sorry, but here is some water to rinse out the salt. *Miss hands Mary a jug of water* :hugs:

Now about those pics.... ;)

Thanks for the heads up. We are currently planning our first trip down that way. So any info on decent accomadation would be greatly appreciated. Also, anyone been to Utila? We have heard good and bad about it, but from what I have seen on the the net doesn't look too uninviting...Any comments...

regards...Landfall

Search... the little thingie in red in the upper right hand corner.

There's "good" and "bad" to be had about any resort or island.

Hearing "bad" is always about unfulfilled expectations, sometimes realistic, some times not.

Evaluate the poster's base of knowledge, then compare it to a realistic and truthful evaluation what you really want.

Utila is a place I would say, go now! Time and popularity have already begun to spoil it. There are other frontiers in the Caribbean, but few other as accessable.

Tell us, Landfall- what do you want and expect from your vacation? That's the key.

Not fair to impugn a resort without information. :no Suggest posting the thread when you have time to post actual information, and are able to respond.:D

Thanks! I was thinking about Paya Bay for an upcoming trip. I'll hold off until you get a chance to write the report. Also, in the past I've found TripAdvisor tremendously useful and accurate - but I suppose it's not perfect.
