Does anyone have a record of the average temps at Millbrook for the season May through October?

I'm trying to decide on a wetsuit. I know a 7mm would be the best for the very cold times but was wondering if I could get by with a 5/4 and a hooded vest. I'd like to be able to use the 5/4 in warmer climates (winter in the Carribean).

Thanks, Mike

This is great. Thanks! I'm guessing that at 40' it probably drops another 5 degrees. Does that sound right?

Mike,
I was at Millbrook all weekend with a Basic Open Water Class. The temp at the platforms was 49 degrees. The temp at 46 feet was 47 degrees.

I don't have enough knowledge of Millbrook to answer that, but I would imagine it depends upon the time of year, whether there is a thermocline and at what depth it is, etc.

As for your question about exposure suits, tolerance for temps is an indivdual matter. But I can tell you that I haven't used more than a 3mil shorty in the Carib. Last February in Key Largo we used 3mil jumpsuits and were fine.

Butch - Thanks for the latest temps. How was the vis? I'm going to try to get out there sometime in May.

I guess the full 7mm is probably the better way to go and get a 3mm for warmer waters.

Mike,
The vis was about 10 ft with a nice greenish tint! I dive a 7mm with hooded vest in the quarry or a drysuit this time of year. I'm pretty comfortable with the 7mm hooded vest combo to about 48 degrees.
