What about rock entry and exit (is it officially allowed?)? You don't have to wait for anyone there!

Yes, rock entries are still an option. Some instructors like Tom Wetzel still require an entry over the rocks (good for you, Tom).

The rock entry is easy, it's the rock exit I'm not a fan of.

Funny you mentioned Tom. I learned rocky entry and exit from him and love it :D

I guess I am torn about the idea of standardizing entry and exit proceedure since different people need to do it differently, but I agree with the person who said that we need to clear those entry and exit points as quickly and neatly as possible. I also agree with the diver who says that less experienced people don't think about that issue - they are just trying to cope with the water! What I would appreciate is INSTRUCTORS with newbies managing their classes in ways that do not involve time-consuming proceedures on the stairs. I see them telling students to sit there and take off fins and fiddle around while a whole line of divers are bumping into each other just past the surf, and they are oblivious. I don't blame those newbies - they just do what their instructors tell them, and if their instructors are telling them to have a picnic while everyone else waits, they trust that person.

Agree Sue... there is far too much time spent on the stairs or within the walled area. People should be ready to dive (sans fins, mask and often gloves) when they get in line. I'm usually pretty patient because I can dive the park any day I want... and it has been pretty empty this winter!
