I am seriously considering buying a Hollis DC2 212 for my wife at an incredibly affordable price, but it is only available in DIN. I have always dived with a yoke setup, so haven't paid much attention to the availability of tanks with DIN valves. Are DIN tanks widely available in places like Cozumel, the BVIs, etc?

No, they aren't readily available, but a DIN to yoke convertor is readily available from any dive shop, and are pretty cheap. Then you can use that one reg on any tank.

I haven't been away to many places, but San Andres had all yoke tanks, Cuba had tanks with convertible valves that could use both yoke or DIN.

I have never seen a DIN valve on any rental cylinder at a dive op catering to tourists. You should be able to pick up a converter for about $40, but they are a serious pain in the ass to use as they protrude from the valve towards the back of your head.

Really? How are they such a pain?

I'd suspect the main concern would be them causing the 1st stage to hit you in the back of the head easier than it would be with a standard yoke. For me, it seems like such a small change though. I looked at my dive master's tank this weekend and it took me a minute to realize it was a DIN reg with an adapter on it. it looked like a standard yoke at first (and second) look.
