Much thanks Liz, while I can handle dried cilantro, dried mint won't fly. Gotta have the fresh mint, spiced rum, limes, sugar, club soda and a drop of bitters. Wonder what the TSA will think of a gallon size ziplock stuffed with fresh mint. MMmmmmm
Not sure about the spiced rum, but thanks for mentioning the bitters. I've had too many mojitos where they forget (or have no idea about) the bitters and I always have to ask. Had plenty of mojitos in Havana made with regular rum, not spiced, perhaps Havana Club is available on Bonaire? I'm pretty sure I've had fresh mint on the island, but can't remember where or when.

The spiced rum is a new twist, very good but jury is still out on which is better.

Liz you are the best!!!!!! I'll swing by regardless.

Spiced rum..blasphemy! Havana Club rum is available at Wharehouse...but I struck out with the mint? Even The Havana Club could not mix me up a mojito..so I would bring some mint!
Not sure about the cilantro?

Have a great trip!

Liz, I'll wait to see what you come up with but I'm planning to bring a few days worth of mint with me.
Jersey, will you have email/internet access while on the island?

I'm not a local so I don't know for sure, but you may want to check with Bonairean customs before you try to bring fresh herbs in. Many places prohibit the import of fresh produce or plants (except by registered and inspected importers) to protect local flora and agriculture from pests and diseases (remember the medfly?)
It might be worth checking first to save yourself some hassle!

You should be fine with bringing mint. Ed brought in a lemon tree he grew in the states from Almalfi lemon seeds (Italy) and we had no problem getting it in.

Nothing informative to add, just wanted to say that you guys clearly have your priorities straight. You're MY kind of divers :)

But of course proper divers dedicate as much planning to the apres-dive as to the pre-dive! I packed dried herbs, my fav olive oil and Ghiradelli brownie mixes last night. Bribing hungry dive masters with brownies will buy you all kinds of bonus points! TS come down and join the Bonaire party any time. But no caves, little technical stuff, just hot days, warm water, pretty fish and plenty of good food and adult beverages after the diving is done, and mosquitoes, even in paradise.
PADiver - not bringing phone or computer down, too much gear as it is. May stop by and use Michaels at Chat-n-Browse. I will PM you name, description and pic so if you see us wandering around.
...8 day countdown...

Great...as soon as my better half see's the Gharadelli reference (only she will want the bag of dk.choc. chips) it will be another thing to schlep to the airport. I am doing the same thing may check chat-n-browse, blackberry and computer stay home this trip. Will look for the PM and reply. Good thing this isin't a month from now or we could have hockey playoff issues, nevermind, Flyers won't be a factor.

Liz, didn't figure i'd have much trouble with mint leaves........whole plant could be another issue.

PA,

Great. I didn't get a chance to talk with the owner's of Karels Bar, as the founder, Karel himself passed away this week, and I didn't want to disturb the family. The funeral was Wednesday.

Hey, why don't you all plan on stopping by on a Monday night for our rum punch party? Ed and I will of course be there and we have a full house, so I hope it is busy! RUM PUNCH ON US!!!! Starts at 5:30 pm. You can park just outside of our gate walls and then walk behind apts 1,2,3 We will be by the pool waiting!

Liz
