Greetings from Deep Blue Scuba, www.deepbluescuba.com. I'm a divemaster (well, one more week and I will be) there, but there's heaps of diving here in Austin. For newbies, we take people out on our boat to a spot on Lake Travis. Mansfield Dam and Windy Point are also dive sites. Comal river is shallow. San Solomon Springs is 6 hours away, but home of the endangered pup fish. The Missile Silo in Abilene is creepy James Bond style. The Flower Gardens are awesome.

We dove Tulamben last April and there are plenty of dive sites from Candisa to Tulemben but you better not be looking for night life because its out of the tourist zone up near Tulamben. The streets close at 10 minutes past sundown. If you are a diver looking for a place to relax, Tauchsport Terminal is a nice quiet resort with fairly good service and guides. The diving there is not terribly difficult and the Liberty Wreck is very easy and just off shore. We also arranged a day diving over in the straights east of Bali and that was a great drift dive location but the water was cooler there. I dive with a skin only and I was ok but not hot ever. The currents there are tricky and we jumped in drifting one direction and ended up going exactly 180 degrees opposite of the surface current at depth. The sea life there is really incredible. I saw things I still have no clue what they are or whether they were plant or animal. Enjoy

I have been impressed with the boards, reading thus far, and finally signing up an account I can remember. also, makes for a good work distraction.
