I'll be diving my HP 100 steel's, I'm thinking about converting them over to Nitrox before Sat, so I can get my 32 nitrox fill... I want to max out my bottom time for some nice pics...

But then again how deep are we going to go? If it's a deep dive I just might wait and stay with air...

MG
At 32% your MOD would be 115 feet. (1.4 pO2)
at 36%your MOD would be 98 feet. I'd say you should be fine unless you intend to push it.

I intend to bring one 32% and one 36%.

mike, aquarius banks 32, so you dont need to get o2 cleaning. diver dans and anywater do as well. deep dives are perfect for some nitrox. --as long as we dont go below the mod. I havent gone below 110 on any boat dives here yet this year. (i'm sure I could have found a deeper bottom but I have pretty much stayed in the 90-ish feet level so far which is perfect for nitrox.

Does anybody know off-hand if the boat offers tanks with DIN valves? If not, I'll bring my HP80s, in which case I'll probably be diving EAN32.

I recently picked up an HP100, but I'm one short of a pair. I probably WOULD have bought the other one today, but Scubapro saw fit to blow my diving equipment budget for the rest of the year by releasing this...

Galileo Luna

30% cheaper than the Sol, with all the features I actually care about? SOLD.

Robin,

I think you are convincing me to get Nitrox on my tanks for this dive. I will take them over to AnyWater sports, since I have to get my Argon filled.

Can you give me the benefit of diving this dive with Nitrox? I don't want to blow my cash on Nitrox when simple air will do the trick for this dive, but I also would like to pair up with you on Nitrox and take pics.

Let me know what you think?

Thanks,

MG

Mike - have you taken a Nitrox class? The two primary benefits you could expect from Nitrox on these dives would be (potentially) reduced narcosis and longer no-decompression limit times (assuming you have enough gas supply to hit them). You will also be able to drop some weight, in the form of the additional cash you will hand over for each fill. ;)

Hey mike

on 21% at 100 feet you are limited to 20 minutes no deco
with 32% you can get 30 minutes

I like getting 150% time under especially when you have the air capacity to take advantage of it
If your going with 2 100's I would go with the nitrox but you will obviously be limited by your buddies mix and air capacity:)

Brian,

Yes I took the class and I am Nitrox certified, I was just trying to get pushed by my fellow divers to finally make the switch... :D

Thanks Robert,

I know how the Nitrox works with extended BT and was looking not to blow my cash on the jump and then blowing through my gas and comming back up in 20 min at 100 feet because I'm low on air.

What I need to do is just do it and find out if if my air consumption is low enough to take advantage of my Nitrox BT, I guess that is what I should've asked in the first place, I'm just being a :dork2:.
Don't mind my silly questions...

So I don't have to pay for O2 cleaning for these fills correct? My nearby dive shop does not have made up banks of nitrox so I'll have to get them O2 cleaned in the near future, Any water sports is in San Jose and I"m in Hayward,,, don't like that long drive just for two fills...

The danger with Any Water Sports is what else you'll end up buying while you're there... LOTS of stuff in stock at that store - very tempting. :D

EDIT: Also - Wallin's Dive Center in San Carlos banks EAN32 (and maybe 36 as well, I forget). That's a bit shorter drive from Hayward...

I understand the direction of your question now. It obviously will be a personal limit based on your air consumption. I know that on boat dives at 80-100' I will run out of no-deco time and have 1100psi + in the tank still when using the boats steel 80 tanks. I would enjoy my 100s with nitrox and probably be able to take them all the way to the mix's ndl as well.

My take on it is that you have paid xxx for the boat, xx for the gas to get there ect ect why not pay $20 more for some nitrox and see how it goes. You may be surprised and get 10-15 more minutes underwater. I would rather do my tests knowing I had the mix to stay longer rather than run out of time with 1400psi in the tank saying "shoulda filled with 32" :)
