Has anyone here purchased an APEKS ATX50/DS4 (yoke) recently, or ever, on the www? I've looked at DiveInn and others and cannot find _this_ combination available? DiveInn site says they do not sell second stages separately, and they have the TX50/DS4, and the DS4 alone... please help.....I'm ready to BUY!!!

Hi BOO,

Saw your comments on DiveInn :) - I'm also currently trying to line up another source for the ATX/DS4 combo, will post details if successful. Try cruising the .co.uk online dive sites - I've found a few that offer the ATX40 and ATX50 octopus second stages seperately, but they are overpriced even after the UK to US currency conversion. I did find once place selling DS4s on special for 70 pounds plus shipping, but their shipping charges to the US negated the savings even after they deducted the 17.5% VAT.

cheers,

Ben

Simply Scuba quoted me a price of $118 for a DIN DS4. The trick is finding someone to sell ya an ATX50 primary or octo. I suspect Simply Scuba would, if you call them and ask them. I got lucky with my combo... which I'm anxiously awaiting.

I'm not sure either... a bit smaller? a bit lighter?
but what about breathability? and what about the innards?

Neither am I, but I couldn't turn down the price I got either. I'm going to try them side-by-side throughout the summer to see if the weight difference is worth it. If it's not...well, I'm not going to get rid of it, but I won't recommend it either. I really like the TX50.
I don't know what the price difference is between the TX50 second and the ATX50 second. If it's astronomical, I would say it's probably not worth it -- the TX50 is just fine (it's better than "fine").
