Attachment pt

Just received a new Carter #35 smb. There is a closed loop on the bottom. How should I affix an attacment point, such as a ring or should I just thread the loop of my spool through it and have line to fabric?

Most spools that I've seen come with a bolt snap. Use that if you have one. If you don't have one, I suggest you buy one. They're very convenient for this task and others.
