I tried the DiveGear Express knot, but it doesn't look quite the same. Just need to get my hands on an old O-ring and I'll try it out. Just to be sure, you squeexe the O-ring halfway through the eye of the bolt snap, and cable tie both ends to the hose?? a picture is worth a thousand words!

You could also try pushing the o-ring through the bolt snap, disconnect the hose from the 2nd and push the hose through the two loops, then you don't need the cable tie and you still have a break away connection.

I'll try to get some pictures soon, but basically yes.

Slide the o-ring halfway through the loop on the bolt snap. Take the two ends and bend them up in a U shape. Slide a zip tie through the loops formed by the U and then loop the zip tie around the hose. If you dont have an o-ring handy, a rubber band or even just a loop of string will help you visualize it.

Tie it on with the nylon line. O-rings degrade and break really easily. Cable ties are hard to cut, yet break if they are twisted the right way.

A simple way to prevent your longhose from catching on things is to have it either a) in your mouth or b) clipped off.
