I am a dealer for both and do a lot of NE diving and I swear by the Atomic M1's (use to dive MK25/s600) for overall breath-ability, performance & reliability. If I wasn't diving the M1 then my next choice would be the MK17/G250.

A quick phone call or email to the charter in advance should resolve this issue real quick. If the charter won't fill titanium regulator then the vacationer can either get a different regulator or find a different charter.

You could also bring the booklet that comes with the reg and show the fill operator that your reg's 40% compatible. I keep mine in the back pocket of my log book but have never needed to use it for that purpose.

And I agree that you can spend less money and get a very fine reg. Me, I'm a bit of a gear hound who enjoys playing with his toys. I dive a T2x (upgraded from a T2 with a kit from Atomic) with MiFlex hoses. It's a great setup that but it's not as if it's the only great setup. To each his own.

Have fun making your decision.

...it might be better to let sleeping dogs lie. I'm pretty much just an advanced recreational diver, but I've NEVER encountered a situation where I've see/heard of any diver being confronted by a dive op/boat about a TI reg.....checking a divers C-card and maybe their DAN insurance is about as far any any dive op goes....I really wouldn't worry about the scuba police spotting your TI reg

Hey, I have decided that whatever my final decision, I DO want MiFlex hoses, I didn't even think about the upgrade until reading this, but that is a nice upgrade. So, since the shop that I will be getting the regulator from is ALSO a MiFlex dealer, I will probably just have this done when they put my computer and all that jazz on to the first stage. My question is how much the upgrade cost you, if you don't mind me asking? Just want to be ready to have an idea what to expect, as well as what I might be able to negotiate (I plan to try to get the price of the regulator low, but if they won't budge too much beyond the sale they are already running, I plan to ask for this to just be thrown in, and perhaps a discount on the new BC that I need). Either way, though, I need to know the value of the upgrade. I did notice that the hose is $36 for 22" from Scuba Toys, does this sound about right?

I've seen people who "know" better than the manufacturers themselves and by all that holy, they are never wrong.

I've never heard anybody on a boat that refused to fill Nitrox because of titanium regulator but you never know. I've had people in shops who claim that the "+" on my Faber tank doesn't mean that it can be filled to 3448-psi even though I showed them the Faber Blue Steel home page's data sheet showing the fill pressures. Those shops only get one visit from me.

Both are great and will work fine for recreational Nitrox. Don't know any dive operator that will turn you down on rec nitrox. I would go for the Scubapro reg. They are great.

I kinda like the fact that the Atomics are environmentally sealed 1st-stages....SP quit offering their piston (MK25 etc.) regs with environmentally sealed 1st-stages a LONG time ago!

Well, all points were considered, and after a valient attempt by the Mares rep to sway me over to a Carbon reg, followed by some time in the pool, I am the proud owner of an Atomic T2!!! That is a big step up from the SeaQuest XR2 that I have used for the first 12 years of my diving career. I got them to throw in a gift card with it (in place of the 20% off thtat they offered today) to get me a little more money towards the new BC that I will be getting as soon as I can check out the Scubapro SeaHawk. It is an exciting time. My girlfriend is trying out diving, so I have gifted my regulator, my computer, etc. to her, and I am upgrading to more of a "dream" set-up. :D

Congratulations!

It's a great reg. Once the pain in your wallet goes away, you'll never have cause to regret your decision.

You asked about the cost of MiFlex hoses. I honestly don't remember as it's been so long but they aren't cheap. Well worth it, though, imho.

Thank you, thank you! I got a decent deal, so I am happy with it. Were they able to do the MiFlex with the ball joint that's on the hose? The dive shop I went to is under the impression that they woudln't be able to do that.
