The squeeeel you hear can sometimes be resolved by flipping the spring end over end. It could be coming from either stage.
I can be caused by something to do with harmonics.
Also, if your regulator is squeeling at the surface and you can create the effect at will, see if the noice can be eliminated by not clamping down so hard on the mouthpiece bites, or by allowing less restriction in your airway.
If so just try a different shaped mouthpiece.
