APEKS XTX200, I have dived with both of the regs you mention above. The Apeks is better in my opinion because it is very easy to service and you do not need to buy special tools. As far as breathing goes all of them are about the same in addition the Apeks is very reliable, a workhorse reg not a temperamental Ferrari.

I absolutely love my T2x (formerly a T2 with the x upgrade kit) but will concede there are good arguments for any of the other Atomic models instead. It might be considered a Ferrari, but I certainly wouldn't call it temperamental.

My wife has a Z2x. I've used it a couple of times--when she wasn't looking--just to compare and as far as I can tell it breathes just as well as my T2x.

I have a few hundread dives on my T2x and it is rock solid and anything but tempermental.
Atomic's brand specific tools are just another indication of the great engineering that goes into their product, The tools make the service work simpler and guarantee more uniform results and allow the service work to be performed at more extended intervals.

How do regulator service tools extend service intervals?

Or, perhaps you just got a little carried away with your praise of the Atomic brand.:idk:

Perhaps he meant fewer regs need tweaking after service due to precision design of equipment and tools...

I don't think that is it. The final tuning is still done the same way without Atomic specific tools (except the SS1). The tools mostly look like access and assembly tools where connections and fastenings were designed to discourage users messing with their gear and to avoid cosmetic tool damage.

I would think it would be a lack of Atomic brand specific tools that would result in extended service intervals. :eyebrow:

My wife and I are working DM's. She had a SP 700 and hated it. Other DM's in her shop bought them and also had problems. She now has a Atomic B2 and I have a T2. Both are great regs. Wed dive 300 dives a year and the 2 year maintenance is great. My other regs are Apeks and you can't beat them either. The best SP reg still going is the Mk 25/ 600. PM if you have questions.

Why do you have a better/more expensive regulator than your wife????

:devil3:
