I love my Z2. It's almost two years old. Only down to 130' :). Not too heavy for travel, breathes like a dream. Some of the others I tried breathed a little too "wet" especially in head-down or upside down position (How else do you look under rocks and into crevices?).

As others have mentioned, all the Atomics are essentially the same reg, just different materials used for different parts in each.

I have a Z2 on a Pony bottle and was diving the M1 Primary/Ti2 Octo. I very recently upgraded the M1 to a T2X and will use the M1 when I move to a doubles setup.

Overall I'm very happy with my Atomics. I dive for Lobsters and end up in some unusual upside down situations. All my Atomics breathe dry. My buddy complains about breathing water.

We are impressed with the apparent quality of Atomic Regulators, would like to hear from users if they are pleased with their regulators?

I have two M1's (on my doubles) and a Z1 for deco and they've all be absolutely flawless in conditions that are probably about as cold as anything anybody will dive in, unless you dive near a glacier.

The M1's have a number of subtle design features, such as the cover, which is designed to not cause a freeflow if you're facing into the current.

They all work beautifully in 33 degree fresh water as well as in tropical conditions and breathe like a dream.

Even the integrated inflator (SS1) on the jacket BC I use in the pool is beautifully made. It uses actual stainless steel and has a number of really cool design features, like a screw-on hose fitting so you can remove it from your BC and rinse it off with the rest of your regs.

What are you looking for?

The breathing performance is the same between the different Atomic models. The hose routing is also the same (and excellent for doubles as well).

But without knowing any specific requirements you may have, I'm not sure you'll get many meaningful answers.

Having said that, you'll probably be well served by all major regulator manufacturers today.

I've had my B2 for a year now with 55-dives, and a few that went down to 130-ft. Overall, I can't complain. I also have a spare regulator set that I picked up used from a dive shop (Aqualung Titan) that work pretty well. I "think" that the B2 breaths better but that's probably a psychological thing. Is it worth the money? It depends on whether or not you can afford it. If you can then it's worth the money. If you can't, then it's probably isn't worth the money. Just like everything else in life.

Between my wife and I, we have 5 B2's and 4 M1's. I don't notice any difference in breathing between the two sets of reg's. They work well in all positions. I liked them so much I use the them for my stage and deco bottles now. I wouldn't own another brand reg for open circuit diving.
