never ended debate filter/lights.
From a pure theory you are right, it's one or another, but from video I have seen both together give a good result, as in fact during day dives, lights have a couple of meter range (best case) and the filter help with all the rest of the image. Will try and see. May be also it's easier to remove some red in postprocessing than adding inexistant color.

Nevertheless anyone could explain why I couldn't upload a photo from my computer? I tried again from another computer with another internet connection and it's the same. dfx obviously succeded with his screen capture, so why not me :-(, why this forum php doesnt like me?
It's not you, it's the forum. Image upload is borken, at least for the time being.

Hi 3D, my plan was for Friday and saturday dives (that's the WE here), but unfortunatly there is a storm warning so we decided to cancel. Next WE I have a dive on a wreck at 30m planned, so I hope weather will be better.

Dive is next Friday...

Looking forward to results of these lights as I'm concidering them also. By the way Gopro angle is not 170 underwater, probably more 120-130. Maybe your arms should be a little longer as "the dark cone" in front of the lens will be thight resulting more lighted backscatter.

Hi
I finally got all the bit and pieces.
I ordered 2 ARCHON W28VR, 1400 lumens max, a dim white position and a red one. I show you how I received them before mount on the SRP tray with the SRP dome filter.
For information you found the W28VR for 250$ on the web, but I found a company in Honk Kong that sold them for 138$ each and deliver them in 3 days with DHL. If you compare with the sola 1200 at at least 700$, I don't know if a may be better quality worth the price difference. There is a charger and a battery with each torch (most of the other sellers provide them without battery and chargers).
As you can see on the white wall there is no hotspot on the beams. I used two because the beam is 120 deg wide and gopro is 170. So to cover all the field and avoid backscatter it's better (and it's not the same price than 2 sola...).
Another interesting point is that 2*1400 lumen didn't give you 2800. It gives you two spot of 1400 lumen, and 1400 lumen is not twice 700. It's a logarithmic scale.
I will dive this WEE in the Indian ocean and will try them and let you know.View attachment 150367View attachment 150368View attachment 150369View attachment 150367View attachment 150368View attachment 150369

Quasar, would you mind sharing the Hong Kong company info? Sounds like a great deal. Did you have to pay extra for the shipping?

I think they are the same lights as these: buy ARCHON D32VR White 2*CREE XM-L U2 LED (max 1400 Lumens)&Red 2*CREE XP-E N3 LED (max 200 Lumens) 3-Modes Diving Light(1*32650 Li-ion battery) - lightmalls online wholesales Worldwide Free Shipping!!!
Archon lights often seem to share more than one model designation but are the same. I too am interested in upgrading to these. I have Archon's D11V lights and though they are great for macro and dark environments, I'm looking for more daylight punch and the D32VR's fit that bill. My only question is how to best mounting them to locline arms.
