It has been quite an ordeal. The dive instructor has been expelled from PADI and I was told by the PADI head investigator that it will be posted on their website today or tomorrow. His name is ---------------- and everyone should be aware of this name - if ever anyone dives in the [towns], Mexico areas. Thanks again for caring.

Fonfon5,

I just wanted to let you know that I was on the PADI Pros website in the Quality Assurance section today & it does indeed show that as of -----, ---------------------, Instructor #---------- is expelled from the agency.

You are a very courageous person for coming forward with your story. We are all sending you positive healing vibes/support to help you in your recovery.

Fonfon5 - Best wishes towards a full recovery. May he rot in jail like the animal he is. Glad to hear that you and hubby are planning another trip and that you aren't giving up the best sport in all the world!

FonFon, I salute you. It takes great courage to stand up to a wrong such as this. I can think of few things as cowardly.. as gutless.. as the actions of this DM. To put a student in peril in this way is beyond my comprehension.

To the other 'solo' diver heading for Huatulco, I can say that I made a half dozen dives with Hurricane a couple of months ago. There were couples and solos .... both female and male. Roberto and Nata were nothing but extremely professional. I would stack them up against any dive professionals that I have run across. I reiterate the comments of others.... don't any of us allow the bad behavior of one individual to besmirch the sport we love.

Aaron Neely:
If this was a legitmate assault...
Aaron Neely - back inn post #19 of this thread, H2Andy let everyone know this dispicable attack was, in fact, verified:
H2Andy:
i want to remind everyone that we confirmed the name of the individual
and the reasons for his dismissal with the proper authorities before proceeding
with this thread.

also, just want to give credit to BigJetDriver for doing the real work on this one.
Folks - please do not further victimize fonfon5 by questioning her sincerity. She has done what few assault victims are able to do - she haas come forward with her story to make others aware that it can and does happen as well as to ask us for support in getting through this very difficult time.

I doubt someone's life in Mexico is ruined. He's probably off someplace else. He probably wasn't getting paid much to begin with and was teaching for royalties such as grabbing vunerable women without having to pay for his crimes. I've met many people like this who keep on doing crap to people until one brave sole comes forward (and that brave sole is traumatized more). I would like to know the severity of the assalt 1st degree or 2cnd degree etc; but if this guy creeped the girl out very bad then its all just as serious. The seriousness of the crime should then consider the victims reaction and how it effected her menatlly and physically. Hopefully he wont do it again; but in Mexico, a lawless country with life at times being insignificant, (stories of shooting while buddies are surfing on the west coast), he could still be making his rounds if he's out of jail.

Way to go girl; you did the right thing. You know what happened to you; no of us were down there with you. You don't need to justify your actions and you need not make any apologies. I whish there were more people with your integrity in this world.

Whish you the best.

Add me to the pile of people who salute you for speaking up about this terrible event.
It has, at the very least, saved others from the same fate. I, for one, have never had that occur to me. It makes me very angry just thinking about it.
Being the victim of a similar crime (on dry land, however), I know firsthand the intense frustration and anger that comes from this. I found that talking about it ad nauseum helped me a great deal. You don't know me from Adam, but I am all ears if you want to bounce it off of someone. I am an open book and a good listener.

 You're a strong chick, that comes through in your posts.

to follow up on Snowbear's comments, this is not the thread to debate sexual
assault in today's society. if you feel you must do that, please do so in another
thread.

this thread was started by fonfon5 to tell her story. please use some common
decency and tact when responding. if you have an axe to grind, this is not the
thread to do it.

Aaron Neely:
FonFon,
If this was a legitmate assault. Im very sorry for you. however. But i have to play Devils Advocate here. The way society is nowadays everyone is so sensitive and sue happy. If you brush up against someone in a crowd,it can be taken as being assaulted. As bad as this may sound I hope this was a legitimate assault, someones life may have been ruined for no reason. PLease dont crucify me for this post. It just seems like i todays world the man is behind the 8 ball.

My respect for this board, it's membership, rules, and administration prevents me from putting in print what I really think of you, and people like you.

I am sure fonfon knows the difference between a bump in a crowd and an assault. I am sure PADI knows the difference too, and they would not have expelled the guy for no reason.

To trivialize such an attack by comparing it to a bumping in a crowd is beyond belief. Where do people like you come from?

And NO, in todays world men are not behind the eight ball. Just ask the family of the Jessica Lunsford or any of the other hundreds of thousands of other victims in our nation. If men were "behind the eight ball" as you so callously put it, then there would be no "sexual offender registry" because the offender would get life sentences; which they should. Instead the men get released into society with another chance to do harm again, and they do.

From all I have heard and read, Mexican prisons make America prisons seem like a picnic. This guy will get his reward.

When I first read this thread, I was so heart broken, I could not find proper words to respond so I didn't. But a post like that is beyond belief, and beyond my ability to bite my tongue.

Thanks for doing that post for me mwn. I had to step back before posting for fear of being mad making me sound more moronic than Mr. Neely. Amazing someone can come along, make that the first post and beg not to be crucified for something he obviously knew was out of bounds.

I can't imagine, as hard as most of us work, to look forward to the joy of your vacation, adding looking forward to the pleasure of getting (back) into diving, and then have some scum-bag take all that away plus so much more. There is no punishment too harsh for him.

Fonfon, there are lots of us out here hoping nothing but the best in getting through this, I am sure it is an ordeal for both you and your husband. Best wishes, all indications seem you have more than enough of the right stuff to be able to eventually shelf this atrocious incident.

Jim
