It's official, El Cantil has been booked and we went $200 over the budget. No complaint there, it appears to be fantastic and we'll rent a car only on the final non-dive afternoon.
At the end of it all, the condos (not just El cantil) were most eager for business and promptly replied to emails.
The hotels at times almost didn't seem to care, Hotel Barricuda was the most prompt to reply. My Hotel Coz and SCC were the slowest, often taking over 24h to get a response. Perhaps its the volume of requests they get.

Sorry, just for you and your snippy attitude, I'll rephrase it: So people recommend a $200/night place for someone considering a $70/night place?
OK, whatever...
Is that any better?
