I saw a flyer the other day in South Shore Divers about an artificial reef that had been built in Boston Harbor. Apparently, it's intended to provide habitat for all sorts of marine life, and also should serve as a good beginner's boat dive site as depths are in the 30' range. Does anyone know anything about it?

On the flyer, there was a link to... well, I can't remember to what, but I think it may have been either the Mass Division of Marine Fisheries, or maybe the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife... in any case, there's more info online SOMEWHERE.

I heard about it a few months ago, Matt. I am sketchy on the details but I think they are off calf. I'll look into it and post what I find. P.

So, when are we going??

I read someplace that lobsters like rocks!

Wow! What a revelation!

Awesome! How long before someone proposes a one-flag-per-diver rule on the reef for the divers' protection?

Only NE divers can twist a thread like this. I know this may sound a bit off but I would feel bad taking a lobster off a habitat put in place to help boost numbers. Of course I would still skewer one of those bass if it were legal (OK just kidding). Sounds like a great dive in a year or two, once it gets really grown in.

;)

More tongue in cheek than bitterness. It does sound pretty cool more dive site options = good thing.
