I have my suspicions that there are actually quite a few "liberals" who own guns. some, just like myself, are believers in personal liberties.
Others.....
Well, I seem to remember a long time ago one of the Kennedy brother's bodyguards being stopped with a seriously auto weapon at an airport (as I said this was long time back now) The comment at the time was something to the effect that those "laws are for the little people". I will never forget that event, as it told me a world of info about the people who make the rules that are to govern US, but not them!

well look at some of them.

Take Rosie O'donnell.

She likes blabbing her mouth, and likes to preach anti-gun, all the while she used to do advertising for the US's then largest gun seller. K-mart.

she also had body guards that she hired to escort her and her kids anywhere, and guess what, they were armed for their (Rosie's) protection.

Talk about a clear double standard. :shakehead:

It is unfortunately very easy to push the removal weapons from the hands of the rest of the citizenry, if you, personally are well protected by armed guards. You will of course never personally have to deal with the fact the such a law leaves the regular "peon", citizen (us) unable to protect ourselves.:shakehead:

Very typical double standard of those who see themselves as the ruling class. Somehow better, more elite than the "commoners" they see themselves as "protecting from themselves"!

I find it amazing 9 so far voted against, just wondering if we will get some comments, and explanation.

What I found interesting is that the percentage supporting other's rights, even though they themselves don't own a weapon has doubled the earlier results. Option #2 is now nearly double the "control" option #3 group.
To me this is an important group to reach out to. It is the citizen who does not and probably will never own a weapon, who's understanding and good will toward those of us who choose to, that is important to keep an open dialog with. Those convinced that government has the right or power to disarm the American citizen will never be swayed by reasoned discussion, I am afreaid.
I do still wish to hear their sides though.

I am armed. Becoming armed is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. It has been totally eye opening, both personally and politically. I am taking responsibility for my own personal safety, and it really has affected who I am in a positive way. I have come to feel that the right to self defense is a human right, and whether or not that right is respected in your locality is the difference between a free person and a subjugated person.

Armed in Massachusetts? Is that even possible? :D
And we think we have tough firearms laws in NY! :shakehead:

Yes, I am armed and have two of them.

I was just posting the following in another SB thread, but it addresses what you are saying "humanbeing":

"Ultimately our protection in any and all situations is our own responsibility. About the best you can expect of the police anywhere is to respond, investigate, etc, AFTER an incident. Courts have held here in the US, that the police are not responsible for each citizen's safety, but the general protection of citizens as a whole. Not sure the exact terms they used.

My own safety, diving, driving, at home, or walking down any street in any city or town is my own responsibility, first and foremost. Safety of myself and my family means always being alert and aware of potential dangers, in any situation.

No DM, no law officer is going to be the one to pay the price if I am careless or not paying attention to the possible risks. This has always, and will always be true for each person, no matter where you are or what you are doing. When you abdicate the responsibility for your safety and welfare to another you are asking for trouble."
