Guys, please don't get offended. I love diving with y'all (and I have met the greatest male divers because of this board), but sometimes I'd like to dive with another woman. Is there no one out there whose SO isn't a diver and feels the same way I do?

Unfortunately most of the women divers that I know in my area have become "warm water only" divers. ---*deep sigh*--- And more of the guys are starting to lean that way also.

Wristshot

The gender gap out here is weird, because while helping classes, or just sitting at breakwater and watching, its a fairly balanced group, but when you see people diving for fun, its mostly men.
I've heard people attribute it to the temperature, in that women - who tend to be smaller than men - get colder quicker, and get discouraged (possibly turning into tropic-only divers?). I dont know how much weight this holds, because most divers have drysuits here, but I guess it could still factor in.

Tidy bowl diver. That would be my wife. Hey NKW5, why don't you try to talk her into diving with us up her in this colder water? That would be a challenge.

They do exist. Of the divers signed up for my Diving
Singles gig at Pt. Lobos in a few weeks, 9 are female,
21 are male. On a recent tune-up dive, it was three of
eleven.

On the other hand, maybe they are smarter. ;-)

Okay guys (I assume), thanks for replying. I'd love to be a warm water diver, too, but I'm not going to settle for maybe one chance a year at diving. Besides, we are so lucky to live in CA. The diving here is fabulous! I would never give it up.

Rick, if I ever I meet your wife, I'll do the best I can to talk her into giving CA waters a chance.

Chuck, thanks for the tip on the yahoo group. (How did you know they existed?) There's great potential there for me to find someone to dive with.

Until then, the quest continues!

I'm a female diver with almost very little diving experience. And none of my close friends are willing to try it out. But i love the ocean. so i'm trying to find buddies all the time. the hard thing is that i don't want to bore the other diver with my very basic, novice-like dives.
