Are backplates really one size fits all?

I personally am longer in the torso than the legs, so I guess this makes the problem worse for me.

I talked to my LDS that rented me the Halcyon, but did not get any clear direction on how to fit it. Just “it looks like it fits”. Please don’t get me wrong, I love the rig. Great balance. No matter what BP I get, I will probably get the Pioneer wings. I just felt awkward out of the water with the shoulder straps loose enough for the crotch strap to reach. Clearly the waist belt can not be around the ribs or upper abdomen as this would interfere with breathing.

Looking at the photos in the GUE site and DIRF handbook, all of them have the waist band around (you guessed it) the waist.

KKM where does this fit you?

I did looking at FredT’s page, but did not see any reference to a long model, just short and standard. I’ll try to contact him directly.
