I just got a great deal on a Aqualung Cousteau/Micra ADJ from my LDS because Aqualung have discontinued it and they burned off their stock. I already had 2 in the family (myself & son), now this one completes the set (wife) and at almost half price. :D

I'm not too worried about future maintenance because there are a lot of these regs around and when I talked to a couple of service shops they said they don't expect any difficulties with parts - at least not for some years.

Just curious, does anyone know when and why Aqualung discontinued this model?

miketsp,

I am not sure as to the exact reason that Aqua Lung discontinued the Micra, but it was something I predicted a while ago. It only makes sense, Aqual Lung has way too many regulator models under its flag to support.

There was all the US Divers models, the Spiro models, Sea Quest's models, and now Apeks. I imagine the situation is an inventory nightmare, not to mention, it makes it impossible to market anything in the line without doing damage to something else's sales.

The Micra uses the same first stage service kit as the Titan, so you are good for service for some time to come, or at least until they discontinue the Titan.

Unless you're in Brazil it won't mean very much because import and sales taxes are very high and what I think is a great price would be so-so in the US.
But I've been shopping around for some time now and comparing local prices. I got it for just a little more than what I would normally expect to pay for a basic Titan.
I was really lucky that I opened my email when they put out a circular with the price drop and I was the first to phone the shop.
I got the last piece and they could have sold lots more if they had them.
It's not every day that a bargain like this falls from the sky.

And the Titan uses the same kit as most of the Conshelfs. There should be no shortage of parts on the first stage probably ever. No idea about the second stage, though.
