Is there some reason that the hoses can't be reversed? I've seen LDS's accidentaly mount hoses backwards before (per how the manufacturer recommends they be mounted). It's not only your head that would concern me-I'd worry about hitting the first stage on something, like an overhang, and damaging it also. There's nothing difficult about reversing the hoses, just need an allen wrench and the correct size open end. Just be sure not to overtighten and keep the threads of everything clean while you do the swap.

I agree with what others have said. I would personally just swap the hoses and mount the swivel down. I have been renting regs all over Florida and beyond for the past three years and have found all kinds of goofy stuff mounted this way and that, good thing I own a decent set of tools. (no not snap on.. Craftsman.)
