I own the Mares Morphos Pro with the air-trim feature. I absolutely LOVE it! It was easy to learn and made diving so much more enjoyable. I may never go back to a "normal" BCD with an inflator hose. The ability to deflate the bladder in any position including upside down is awesome! Going home with a bone dry bladder is a plus too. :D The only thing about my Mares that iv'e grown tired of is the bulky-ness on the sides due to it being a bladder / wing hybrid. When I saw an ad for the i3, I started doing some research on it and have heard nothing but great reviews all from people who have actually tried it out. The few that I read here and there with negative comments seem to be from people who haven't seen it first hand and are scared of the new technology. I have used the air-trim technology and as I said before it really is amazing and worth at least trying out. The dimension i3 has my vote and because of its full wing and lower profile (compared to my Mares Morphos), I plan on purchasing one very soon!:eyebrow:

I am also interested in the i3. I learned about it on a recent trip to Puerto Aventuras (Maya Riviera) Mexico. I met a couple who both have it and love it. They told me the lever is great for minor adjustment, much better/finer control than the hose, especially for new divers. Hope to see more feedback on this one.

(the guy also said they run large in size)

They *do* run large in size. My TransPac was a L/XL, my Zeagle is a Large, and my Dimension i3 is a MD. Definitely try to size it in your local LDS prior to purchasing...

Just got back from a dive using a rented i3. I'm ready to go out and buy one! Control was awesome and fine tuning was amazing. My buoyancy control was never better. Only took a couple of minutes to be able to use it like I owned it for years.

How long has the Dimension i3 come out? I don't see any of the usual online store carry it, leisureprod, scubatoys, scuba.com. Does it require special regulator/hose to go with it? After looking at the Aqualung web site, I think the couple I met had the Prod QD and Pearl i3, they told me the BC needs a special inflator hose.

The i3 has been out a while, however, the Dimension i3 is relatively recent. However, AquaLung/SeaQuest does not typically sell their BC's through the net.
You don't need a "special" hose for the Dimension, rather just a slightly longer one, since it's routed through the BC as opposed to just over the top of it (which further serves to keep the inflator hose out of the way). It comes with the proper length inflator hose, however, I replaced it with a similar length (30") MiFlex.

the problem I have with this system is that EVERYONE I have talked to from local divers, to instructors to the LDS owner seems to want to put an air2 or similar on it. Doesnt that kind of defeat the whole purpose?

If you want more stream lined for possibly cutting potential snag points that is fine, but why add an air2 if you have the lever? Wont that defeat the purpose of streamlining?????

I just bought the Dimension i3 and since it requires the oral inflator hanging off the left shoulder anyway, I would just assume plug my auto inflator & second (I have an Atomic SS1) on the left shoulder there in it's place. Yes, with the i3 lever on the hip this adds a redundant inflate / purge, but the alternative for your second is an octo.

Since you need the shoulder inflator regardless, getting rid of an octo seems more streamlined to me. Unless having two inflators on your BC creates a problem I haven't foreseen yet. Is having two inflators a bad idea ?

The problem I possible foresee, still being a new diver and all, is the system is supposed to make it more streamlined, but what about oral inflation, or a stressed out diver not being sure where to inflate from?

I personally have not dove one of these and wont claim to have, however I have seen these in my LDS where I work and have seen a HUGE potential problem of accidentally hitting the inflation while you are trying to ditch the integrated weights. To me they just seem WAY to close together.

That being said I will try to dive one of these soon, but until then I still have my reservations as noted above...
