I am planning a bit of a last minute solo trip to Roatan for April. This will be my first time there. Everyone here seems to say good things about Coconut Tree Divers so I am contacting them. How are their cabins. Do they hade a safe? AC? View?
If their accommodations do not work out I will try Posada Arco Iris.
My last few trips have been to Cozumel and Bonaire and from what I have read this will be a different experience.
Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

I booked the air so I am going. I am now finding a place to lay my head and a boat to drop my head underwater.
Coconut Tree Divers replied to my email and seems like a good bet for the diving. I am waiting for a reply for accommodations that were recommended to me.

I will be staying at a new place, a short walk from the town area, called Cocolobo. I will post on my take on the place after I return.

Haro 10--If you liked Bonaire for not feeling overrun and for having a slower pace you'll enjoy your stay. The West End is not "like" Bonaire but the RF (Relaxation Factor) is. The diving is very fine, with an awful lot of very close in, varied sites. If you don't like your hotel or dive op, you just walk down the road a bit and find another--but most folks seem to like whomever they start with. The operative word here is "walk"; you won't need to be in a car until you sadly head back to the airport in a taxi. A lot of good atitude prevails on the island.

We went there for the first time last March and are going back for the 3d time in a few weeks. (There goes the annual IRA contribution. Again.) After you have your first day of diving then watch a sunset from Foster's of Sundowners or some other nice spot, you'll be most happy you are there. Me, I'll be even happier I'm there sooner than you are! // ww

Thanks WW. I am especially looking forward to the diving and to trying many new restaurants (and not driving).

As soon as you get there, start using the cactus juice to prevent sand flie bites. I had a great time in Roatan the past couple of weeks, but I am still itching bites and I have been back for three days. Yes, I wore cactus juice almost the whole time...

Some people swear by Cactus Juice and some people swear at it. 100% deet has worked the best for me but I wash it off before diving.
I may try to pick up some Cactus Juice before I arrive next month to give it another chance.

Thanks, Doc.
I am also going to try the Vitamin B route, though I have met with limited success with that at the cenotes around Akumal.
