I’ll be visiting San Diego with my 15 year old son in mid-April, and I have a few questions for the locals:
-What can we expect for water temps at depth? We dive Ma, Me, RI (we’re in the Boston area), where the summer temps are 52-62 or so. We dive 7 mil with hooded vests, is this sufficient?

-We’re looking for a good boat dive operation to use (day trips), any recommendations? Any that offer guided dives? Do they consistently go out mid week or weekends only?

-I've found a few operations on line that do guided shore dives, how long are the surface swims, on average?

Any help would be appreciated.

- 49 degrees
- not really

- horizon, lois anne

- not sure about the guided dives, they aren't that common, or useful imho for divers who have dove in cold water before

- in april, mainly weekends

- in april, you'll be shore diving la jolla shores, surface swims are maybe 100-200 yards (the vis at la jolla cove, with no surface swim, will be quite poor probably)

I'm sure more people will chime in with other opinions, answers

have fun!
