OK so the Depth app and Oceanic+ create two different logs? That's not ideal.
No, they don’t as far as I can tell. Oceanic and Depth don’t create any logs, the depth and temp sensors do. Each app uses the logged data to calculate and display metrics. However, apps can write additional attributes to denote actives etc. so this may explain how this might work to display what we see in the video.

iOS 17 and watchOS 10 dropped yesterday. I’ve updated my phone and watch, but I don’t see the dives showing up anywhere new. Maybe this specific feature hasn’t been released yet?

The Depth app shows up on the Watch Ultra 2. It isn't there on the Watch 9, which makes sense.

New Oceanic+ app release adds free diving mode.

"The Oceanic Plus app gets some big updates for both versions of the Apple Watch Ultra."

Horrible experience with Ultra and Oceanic+. Totally unreliable as a diving computer. Went diving yesterday after a few months off, and in the first dive, if would not come off the initial screen where it asks you if you are ready to dive. Thankfully i had a real dive computer with me and did not have to abort the dive. I was able to reset the watch and get it to move to the initial screen. Jump into the water, and it immediately goes into a screen saying that i need to connect with my iphone via setup. Last time that I went diving, it asked me to upgrade after i jumped into the water. I am I supposed to trust my life to a finicky badly designed software or abort each dive?
Came home and cancelled my subscription. Not planning to use Oceanic+ for diving any more.

@yupito The AWU definitely isn't "totally unreliable" - or not a "real" DC. I've seen (maybe) a half dozen users total here reporting some kind of problem, and those were about log file syncing or issues w/starting a dive.

Considering the number of new AWUs out there (a couple million?), I expected to hear about more problems. Reviews have been good. There's no way the AWU could be "totally unreliable" given this- actually it looks to be quite solid in its class.

Interesting SB reliability context - 58 pages:
