Here's what the Atomic Aquatics manual have to say:

"The major service interval for the Atomic Aquatics regulators is semi-annual (2 year) or 300 dive. We recommend that you take your regulator to an authorized Atomic Aquatics dealer annually for a safety inspection."

Don't know if things have changed with Oceanic but it used to be (for personally owned equipment used for recreational diving activity):

"Equipment used 100 dives or less per year should be serviced at least once per year. Equipment used more than 100 dives per year should be serviced after 100 dives prior to further use. Equipment stored for more than 6 months should be inspected, and serviced as required, prior to use."
That's what I meant, I'm guessing to keep the warrenty void you have to service it every 2 years. That doesn't change the fact that for safety reasons you should'nt follow the guidlines above.

Not to put too much more smoke into the mix, but upon asking similar questions at my LDS, I was told that Apeks were the technical divers' brand of choice, and that for the money, a recreational diver doesn't need to buy a Lamborghini to stroll down their neighborhood street (my own metaphor, sorry it's lame! ;) )
If you do buy Apeks, I'm sure you will not be disappointed, but you could get something less damaging to your wallet and still be very happy.

As mentioned previously, people tend to recommend what they own, so from me to you: I bought the AL Titan LX (free octo and all), and I'm quite happy, it's a great reg.

Cheers!

I have Apeks 50's and 200's, My wife has the 100. I think only the breathing machine can tell the difference. I can't tell.

Apeks also has the deal for the free octo.

The decision for me was an easy choice to make the XTX50 wasn't much more money that a good quality recreational reg. The XTX 50 isn't as limited in depth as the other reg was, plus I got the Egress octo free. I had many compliments on the octo's ease of use during rescue training. My dive buddy liked the reg deal so much he got one too.

Last week we dove in 40 degree temperature and the equipment preformed better than the divers. Brrrrrrr!!!

A breathing machine won't be able to tell the difference either. This is straight from an aqualung/apex master tech: the 40, 50, 100 and 200 are all the same reg, the only difference being size, and it's an 8% (smaller) difference down the line starting at the 50. All those regs take the same parts kit and the internals have been the same since the TX days, probably even the AT days. So my buddy's years-old TX50 is the same as a NIB XTX200.

If you don not mind, can you give me your opion on the Atomic Aquatic regs (B2) and scubapro mk25/s600. I am new to the board and so far I can only get private messages. Your opion on dive computers will aslo be greatly appreciated.(VEO-2 Oceanica? or UWATEC)
