There is an identical post in the Regulators forum (link), maybe a Mod can work their magic and join the two threads over there?

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

I have a TX100 and my dive buddy has a XTX200. If there is any difference in performance, quality, or servicibility, you couldn't prove it by either of us.
They use the same parts kit for overhaul (as does the 40 and the 50). If I were you, I would pick the one with the hose routing that best suited my gear configuration.

I would not hesitate to spend my money on any regulator that Apeks built.

There are other regulators that are as good as an Apeks, but I seriously doubt that any are better.

In my experience, any of the top regs are so good that the diver won't be able to tell the difference when diving. Human beings simply aren't that sensitive and that is one of the reasons breathing machines are used to test them.

I have a little MR12 Voltrex as well. My Voltrex will go out of tune and require an overhaul much sooner than my Apeks, but when freshly rebuilt, I can't tell the difference between the two (other than the fact that the Voltrex doesn't dry my mouth out as badly as the Apeks does).

XTX100 or XTX200? This is one of those rare occasions where it is impossible to make a wrong decision.

Bill.

I have 3 Apeks regs. They are all 50's with DS4 first stages.

Perform great and (relatively) inexpensive. I see no need for either a 100 or 200.

Hose routing on doubles with the DS4's is not perfect but works fine for 1000's of divers.

Hose routing on doubles with the XTX100s is perfect and works fine for 1000's of divers. But they are quite a bit more expensive than the DS4s. Nice that people have options. :D
