Thinking of going over to the APEKS mtx-rc for the dirty waters I dive....What do you guys think of this reg setup? I am Diving g260 with mk 19 and hog back up regs...APEKS looks good ..any real use experience would be good..Thanks!

Well....I wanted to try a different brand to see how they compare to each other...

Oh, I see. I am a Scubapro/Atomic guy so I can't help you with Apeks but this specific model is for diving in "extremely cold" waters, are you diving in this type of waters?

I don't see a reason to get the Apeks at all myself. (This doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with the Apeks, it just there is no functionally or performance, or anything, reason to get the Apeks).

The good news is: they both breathe fine. The bad news is: they cost a lot of money. I have both, SP for sidemount, Apeks for doubles. SP breathe a little easier imo, but both do their job as expected.

With the MK19/G260 you have a great dirty/cold water regulator. I dived Apeks for years. The design of the second stage is such that you can alter the position of the lever because the valve spindle can easily move when tightening the heat exchanger or when adding or removing hoses. I don't know if the MTX series resolved that issue or not.

@calabash digger

This is no practical reason of any kind to ditch the MK19/G260 for the Apeks regulator, none! HOWEVER, if you just want to get the Apeks to try and play with it, go ahead and then sell it later and keep the MK19/G260 :)

I'd be interested in hearing your report on comparisons of both regulators.
