I'm trying to find a DS4/XTX50/XTX50 setup or similar without sacrificing my first born son, but the LDSs will have none of it (all quoting $900ish!). Is it possible to acquire such a thing in Canada, under warranty, for a more reasonable sum?

Leisurepro.com and scubatoys are not authorized dealers for those products. There are more brands comparable to your budget.

Hence my comment about warranty. You could at least help the OP out and name names

LP & ST both provide limited return warranty & service on products they sell. If manufacturer's warranty is important to you, buy from an authorised dealer, and pay more. Or buy from your LDS if you want to support them and get the advantages of local support

It's up to you, I'm not on commission

Ok, thanks guys, next time I see a thread from a newbie with no answers I'll just ignore it like everyone else

Anticarus - as a fellow Canuck, I know we tend to get hosed (eh!) on retail prices on many things. Have you checked into purchasing in the US and having any warranty work done locally? I would think your local dealer would perform work regardless of where the item was acquired. I bought my various pieces of Apeks stuff in Portland OR.

I second what Cavew0man wrote...

I got an XTX200 and XTX40 octo (for $477US) through a connection in the States and have had it serviced under warranty here in Vancouver with no problem.

Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the info - I guess I'll inquire over the border, but probably end up settling for Zeagle or something, which seems to have a reputation nearly as formidable.
Scubatoys, unlike leisurepro, seems to offer a full manufacturer's warranty on their new gear. No Apeks though - I don't think Apeks sanctions any online sales.
