Guys,
im a newbie, and currently deciding to buy a reg; in doubt of whether to buy the Apeks Flight or Hollis 212/DC2. May anyone give their respective opinions on this? Thanks in adv.

Apeks Flight is a very light set of regulator. It is very travel friendly. however if you are going to do cold water diving, you better wait til middle of the year when they release the cold water model. This is exactly what I am going to do, wait and see what they have to offer. Personally have no experience with the Hollis, but Apeks Flight and Hollis 212/DC2 IMO are not similar regulator so it is hard to compare. Flight is a very unique regulator, light weight, trendy, fashionable, male and female version.... If you are comparing Apeks XTX200 and Hollis 212/DC2, I will pick the XTX. my 2 cents :)

....among my 'fleet' of regs are a pair of Apex XTX 200's...which along with my 2 Atomics, are my favorite regs....point being, Apex makes some awesome regs, but my hesitation with the "Flight' is that the 1st-stage is PLASTIC, so I wouldn't want to be a beta-tester for that...I'd want to see a lot of divers but a lot of miles on that reg and hear all the user feedback before risking my $/life on something that different.

hi,
would be a good idea to put down the type of diving and requirements you seek in a reg set. flights are perfect for travel and use in warm waters. WOB is 0.75. not as smooth as their XTX range, but a very decent WOB. the WOB of the 212 are 0.68. from the grapth they seem to be a smoother breather. if any of your mates have an oceanic EOS, that would be worth a try as it is similair to the 212.

interms of quality, i trust a uk reg more then a taiwanese reg.

hollis is taiwanese?

thanks to all of u guys, but fyi, im searchin for my 1st reg, so which one shud i buy in ur opinions? i read a lot about 212 but flight is very new n hard to get info on it..

hollis is made in the same factory as oceanic. you can compare the EOS and the hollis range (notice the similiarities). Also look at the atomics range of regs. you will also notice the similarities. The hollis and flight are two different regs made for different conditions. If you are just diving tropical waters with lots of travel, apeks flight is the way to go. nice and light and easy to maintain (2 yr service interval at any aqualung/apeks dealer). i hear that they will be bringing out the flight in asia end of febuary, however you can get it in the EU atm. I was considering the flight, but went for the traditional XTX range. I am just going to change the hoses to miflex to match the flight. I have heard that you need an adapter for the hollis if you were to do that.

After doing more research have decided the flight is not the reg for me! I'm getting closer to narrowing it down between the aqualung legend, apeks xtx100 pr 50 and atomic b2 or z2x.

If I go with the atomics I am going to check into adding the M1 exhaust...
