Hi, on my 3rd Day in tulamben Bali the pump for my AOI housing broke. Any ideas how to vacuum out the housing, or is it just diving without it as I did to 2 dives today.

You can attach the tube part of the the pump to the housing and just suck out the air with your mouth. Have done it a few times.

Yeah that is what I do with my resealable bags

Does anyone you're diving with have a syringe

Lots of folks travel with insulin syringes but it might take 6 hours to pull a vacuum at half a ml/pull assuming you could make the mechanical attachment. If you are near a restaurant you might ask for a wine bottle air removal gizmo.

Thanks a lot Bill, I'll use that tomorrow. I wasn't putting much pressure on it, it just snapped. Needs a better design or mine was a poor one.

There is a newer low profile version available as well, not as efficient but easier to pack.
I carry that as a backup, but should also get a bit of tygon tubing of the right diameter to try the manual (sucking) way.

Thanks a lot Bill, this morning I started sucking and was surprised that after a while I could get the red light to go solid. Great advice and assistance, thanks mate!

Pharmacies in Bali will stock syringes for patients on insulin, They may also stock oral syringes for administering liquid products to babies.

Thanks but I should get out of it OK by sucking up to the Housing situation!
