KROBI:
Anyone diving at Joes or in the lakes yet?

A couple of horse farm security guys sunk one of the farms trucks in a large pond. They were probably stoned. But the water temp. was in the mid to upper 40's.

Where's Joes?

Joe's is in LaGrange, which is only about 20 minutes east of Louisville on I-71. The owner is Joe Clark, so some people call it "Joe's." It is also referred to as "Falling Rock Park." Whatever you decide to call it, we all hope you will come dive there soon.

I'm thinking of visiting my brother for the derby next weekend and wondering if it's worth taking my gear w/ me. Can I rent tanks/get airfills @ Joe's?

Thanks.

Joe's is a good dive site, but unfortunately he doesn't have a fill station, gear rental, etc. He basically collects $15 cash from you and lets you dive. You have to bring everything you need. However, if you are staying in Louisville, you can contact the Louisville Dive Center and see about fills and so forth from them. Also, I am not certain if Joe is open regularly on weekends yet; maybe someone else can comment on that.

I am not sure if he is open either. I think he generally opens the weekend after Derby. But I am not sure. If you call one of the dive shops I bet they know or can find out for you.

Hey GUEDiver how often are you at Joe's in the summer? I've seen a few people out there during the summer in a DIR setup (I know a few of them) but I don't think we've ever met.

Last I heard ol' Joe will be open the weekend after Derby. I am not entirely sure yet though. I know I'll be in my drysuit if he is.

Chris

Hi Chris, I am out there pretty frequently...in fact as much as I can without my wife handing me the divorce papers (har har). Look for the guy in the DIR rig with the very blond hair...although with the chilly waters I'll have a hood. Just ask around for Ed at the New Horizons pavillion on the far side of the quarry from the entrance.

Looking forward to meeting you soon.
