I'm considering purchasing the Scubapro G250 with the MK25 as my primary, and either a R190 or R380 as the backup from leisure pro. The only issue is that the R190 and the R380 are only sold as an octopus, meaning they have a neon yellow faceplate. Since I want to eventually be DIR compliant, I would like both my primary and backup to be black, or have my primary have the neon yellow faceplate, since that is the one I will donate in an OOA situation. So does anyone know if the G250 and or the R190 and R380 have interchangeable faceplates? Or does anyone know where I can get the R190 or R380 regs without having to buy a first stage also at a reasonable price?

Thanks for the reply, awap. I found the scubpro R380 octo at diveinn.com. The picture does show the faceplate as being black, but the description indicates that the the faceplate is yellow. So I think i'm back to the drawing board. Thanks again for the reply though.

The r190 and r380 are available as standard seconds. Scubapro sells all of their 1sts and 2nds separately, so you should be able to get either to add to the 25/250. DiveInn and Simply Scuba are selling them in packages only. You could get the 25/250 from one of them and buy the 380 locally, but it would cost more. you could get a 380/mk2 package from one of them for a good price and keep the mk2 as a spare for about the same price.

I would go with the 380 because it's smaller. i use one on my ow reg. The 250 is a good choice, or an apeks would also be dir. it sounds like you've decided already though.

btw, where'd you hear that they only come as octos?

ps. if you want to be dir you can't call it an octo. :D

Munin,

I guess what I meant was that at leisure pro, they only sell the R190 and R380 regs seperately as an octo. They don't sell them as a stand alone 2nd stage without the 1st stage.

I know I can buy them as seperate regs at my LDS, but it probably would be cheaper to buy them as a 1st and 2nd combo at Leisure pro as you said.

So I may have to get the R190 or R380 with an MK2-plus. Anybody want to buy an MK2-plus?

Or........buy evertything at Liesure -pro and get a replacement from LDS.I have all three mentioned .250/Mk20s are for back gas,190/Mk2s and 380/Mk2s for stages....love'em.I do admit my primary is a non-DIR pink tho.

bought the R380 from Diveinn as my octupus its all black except for the purge button. Great price and great service.

Hockeymulder - I have the G250 and S600 combination on a MK20 and I am intending to purchase a few more G250's in order to setup doubles. My advice to you is - keep it simple and go for 2 G250's and don't bother with the R380.

This way you'll only need one spares kit and you know that the backup reg (DIR) is as good as the primary. Why would you want a lower performing reg in an OOA situation?

Just my opinion.

Dave.
