I don't care how much the vis sucks, I haven't been wet since early December. Does anyone know what the water temp will be like?

What time do you guys think you'd like to do the first Saturday dive at? I have Friday and Saturday off but have to be at work at 4am on Sunday, so I'd need to get started early. :)

Oh, I forget, is there a fill station there or should I bring two full tanks?

I plan on getting there at 08:00 when they open so hopefully I can snag a pavilion. I typically setup down near the airplane. For those not familiar with CSSP stay on the left side of the quarry and head all the way to the back. I don't have my heart set on that spot, so if everyone wants to be somewhere else, that's fine too. I'll be setting up camp when I first get there and when I get done with that it'll be SCUBA time.

As for a fill station they do have one on site and it is $8 per fill. Note that their air is not o2 clean so if you have o2 clean cylinders don't fill them there. As for water temp I really don't know, but I'm guessing mid to upper 60's at the surface and low to mid 50's below the thermo, which is probably around 20 ft. I'll be bringing my 7mm, my 3mm, and my core warmer as well as gloves and hood so I should be able to find something to work in those temps.

So the latest list is:

TxHockeyGuy - Saturday and Sunday
czzzaar - Saturday
Kunk35 - Saturday and Sunday
Foo - Late Saturday and Sunday
Illini_Fan - Saturday and Sunday
ClayJar - Saturday and Sunday
Twinklez - Maybe
tx51210 - Saturday
cruiser - Saturday and Sunday

If you're planning on joining us please let me know by Wednesday so I can be sure to have enough fajitas.

I just noticed that on ScubaToys.com they have rescheduled their big party that Sunday. Apparently they trust the weather forecast out this far and think it will rain on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am still planning on going on both Saturday and Sunday. Just thought everyone should know.

I guess we'll have to do this again the weekend of June 2/3. :D

LOL, man if I started rescheduling all my classes and events for weather forecasts a week out on Texas we would never have an event! I am guessing they were not getting to much feedback for early May. It's still a bit cold. June will be better, weather, timing, Dive Rite Demo days that weekend, you name it. They will definitely get more people that weekend. We are holding our event Sat. June 2 and theirs in June 3. I might camp out that weekend, and I do not usually do that. I want to take a spin on their wheel and try and win a prize! CSSP will be packed no doubt about it.

Okay, how will I know it's you guys and gals?

Someone said something about camping. Is anyone still planning on doing that? Since I have Friday off I could be up for spending Friday night out there. Do they allow night dives, btw?

They are only open on Fridays by reservation only, so you'd have to see if they are willing to open up on Friday. Check out http://www.clearspringsscubapark.com for more information on the park.

Wow, I'm definitely going to have to make it out on Jun 2/3. Since I know Debra would never put a plug in for her store on here I will. Here's a link to info on the Jun 2 Surface Interval Scuba/Dive Rite Demo Days event.

Everyone is already aware of the ScubaToys thing that's was going to happen this Sunday and is now going to happen on Jun 3. That should be one fun weekend.

I'll be doing my OW class that weekend but that means I'll be able to do the next event :) Have fun for me!

Does anyone know what the water temp will be like?

Yesterday, 04/28, the surface temp was right around 70°. There was a thermo around 16'-17' that dropped it to 64°, and another thermo at 25' where it dropped to 56°. I was pretty comfortable in my new 7mm (Thanks, DebraW!), but my hands got so cold they actually hurt at 30'. I ascended to 20', and spent the rest of the day in the 20' range.

The good news is that the water level is back up. It was 20' at the platforms, and 31' at the bottom of them, which is up 6'-7' from last summer.......

Oh, phooey. Don't they have a pavilion or something in case of rain?

(As for the precipitation forecast a full week from now, The Weather Channel blog had a nice take on that a few months ago. The gist of it was that temperatures not counting fronts are easy, but precip is much less reliable. It'll probably be the brightest sunshiney day. :D)

Since they've canned it for now, I'm now questionable. My buddy's trying to get healthy, and without a draw to pull toward Texas, warmer water may prevail. (I've got a collection of free passes to places in Florida...) Anyway, will advise.

We're still planning to be there, camping all weekend. Hope the weather turns out as beautiful as this weekend! I was kind of surprised to see a weather cancellation a week out, also- Texas weather forcasts can sometimes not be reliable even a couple of days out!

So, Thomas- I see you got your lp hose repaired and your long hose out!
