Before i got my Apeks regs i was worried about parts too until i called around and found 3 shops authorized to sell and repair Apeks.

couldnt hurt to call around, unless you have already exhuasted all avenues.

Your best bet is a US divers dealership and or other shops which carry Apex. I'm sure you know you won't get a kit if your not a certified technician and its for your own good, but I can understand you not wanting some stranger to handle your baby.

Good luck in you search.

what shops are those? I live somewhat nearby, curious who you trust yours to. I know Sport Chalet carries 'em, but I don't trust them.

I think the first issue is where do you live? If you are in Canada I would suggest you contact aqualung in Sannich ( near Victoria ) they are the Apeks dealers in BC. You might goto this link;

shhhh dont tell PADI they mite get mad hehehe

Checkout the Apeks site you will find authorized dealer locator on it. If youare really stumped email me and I'll hook you up with some good stuff eh...:) Cherry puts on long overcoat pulls hat over head puffing on a cigarette as he walks away....

Thank you all for your sound advice. I live in Illinois, USA, and there are a couple SeaQuest dealers nearby. I just really don't trust anyone else but myself to service the regulator. I am buying it online, so I already don't get a manufacturer's warranty (Tommy Boy quote: "I can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed").

I would be interested if anyone had access to these parts, or knew where to get them. Thanks again!!!!

Diveinn was selling them them about a year ago but seems to have been shut down. Looks like they recently got shut down by scubapro on sevice kits also. You might try to get your online dealer to include service kits with the reg purchase at a reasonable price. There are a number of online dealers to choose from so you might see if one really wants the sale. I tried to talk leisurepro out of kits once but I had already made the reg purchase so I had no leverage and they just were not interested.

Good Luck

Aqua Lung Canada is a dam joke, The only reason there still in the country is because of there military sales through Roger S the military sales rep. The military sales are higher than there retail sales. Aqua Lung Canada never has anything is stock, to confirm this just ask any shop in Eastern Canada. If there is anything in stock they seem to favor it to the west coast were sales area bit higher. I can see very shortly Aqua Lung Canada closing down and goods will have to be orderd directly from the states as they did in the past.

For my own good?

Toyota is perfectly happy to sell me everything I need to rebuild the brakes and steering components on my 2003 Tundra from wheel to wheel.

Where's the greater liability exposure? If my reg fails, my dive is over and MAYBE I die.

If my truck's brakes or steering fails, I could take out a busload of people.

The alleged purpose of the restricted availability is to ensure that I take my regs to a tech for servicing every year.... but it ends up having the opposite effect.
If I can get parts and manuals, I'll buy them and rebuild my own regs every year or so. Lacking the parts availability, I would be more likely to simply let the things go until they fail.

My buddy's Conshelf XIV went 20 years before it's first overhaul.
It failed two weeks after getting it back from Sport Chalet.

The catch22 game played by the manufacturer and LDS preventing the diving public getting access to service kits and a workshop technical manual has been a bone of contention for some time. As a diver it annoys me. I am still spitting bullets about my old spiro reg which can't be serviced because they don't make or stock the parts.
Scuba Pro does give a lifetime parts guarentee when you keep your regs serviced by the lds. They replaced my mk20 2nd hand ultra light 1st stage this year with a new mk25 free of charge when they couldn't replace the 1st stage. So I think their after sales is better.
