I'm just getting into diving but I'm really kinda PO'd at this whole LDS versus Leisurepro/online retailer (grey market) BS! Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Buy at LDS and pay VERY high prices and have limited selection. Use them for repair and risk some idiot (just like the last guy that worked on my '02 Moto Guzzi motorcycle and hacked it as an example) screwing up your reg or buy like I did and now you can't buy parts or learn to fix it yourself? I work with computers for a living and I'm quite capable of learning to fix a reg I think. I prefer to work on my own automobiles (I was in autobody for over 10 yrs.) for this very reason except for major stuff that I may not have time to handle because of work etc.
I hope the Apeks ATX200 I just dropped $400.00 on is at good as it's supposed to be, so it lasts until I figure out how much and where/who can service it. Had I known better I would have priced the "free" repair kits over 10-20 years and compared that to the high retail price of the reg to see if it equaled out.
Still.......anyone know where I can locate rebuild kits???

I live in the UK - lucky old me ! Well not really but at least I can get apeks bits no problem !

I travel quite a bit so I got my LDS to supply me with a service kit - 1st & 2nd. No real problem 'cos they know me. Just took a bit of chatting up. I could but won't service it - I'd prefer to let someone who really knows what there on about look at it - even if it's a differnet brand to what they're use to working on.

I could be right off the mark here but I thought ( or someone somewhere said) the Zegel was the US branded apeks or at least there was a close connection between the two companies.

I love zegel gear almost as much as I love apeks regs ( Sad !) and both brands exhibit the same quality so maybe it's true!

comments ( no flaming please) and perhaps get service kits via a zegel LDS

Interested to hear if this it true.

Like I said before, I'm new to diving, but if I'm not mistaken Zeagle built regs for Apeks at one time. Someone else may know the whole history of the Apeks / Zeagle relationship.

Apeks built all of the Apeks and Zeagle regs until Apeks cancelled Zeagle's US distribution agreement and gave it to Seaquest.

Zeagle hired a couple of engineers that used to work for Apeks, and now makes their own regs, which have a very similar design, but no parts interchangeability.

Zeagle has never built any regs for Apeks.

In the US, reg service kits are just a little easier to buy than hen's teeth. For the most part, sales are restricted to authorized shops and resale directly to the end user is very rare. Are you able to buy kits directly? If so, are there any Finnish online sources?

Thanks.

And thanks for the documentation site.
