Ever since I was first certified a couple of years ago I have found myself equalizing quite a bit while going about daily life on dry land. Elevation changes, elevator rides and sometimes simply walking down the street I find it satisfying to equalize. Now I am certainly not equalizing with the same pressure as I would when diving and it has never caused an issue like pain or anything like that. However I have found that this new habit has made equalizing while diving easier and easier over time. I'm sure some folks wonder what I'm doing when I randomly hold my nose for a second :)

No

Only time I do it is after a cold when checking if all seems ok prior to going diving.

I do this constantly, but don't need to hold my nose. I can get "the click" as things equalize 99.9% of the time without that.

Yes I have noticed this too. But I also have a lot of sinus congestion with allergies. I wonder if I equalized just as much before but wasn't conscious of it.

Hmmm, allergies and congestion here, too. Seems to be a thing.

Hahahah I live at a little elevation and every morning going down the hill and every afternoon coming back up I equalize. Or at least notice when I do. Also me and my husband remark to each other each time our ears pop. Like its a competition :dork2:.

I do it all the time. Not certain if I did it as much before being certified. I do know that currently while in the water equalizing comes very easy.

Most of the time I can pop my ears just breathing out the nose harder than normal. And I do it all the time.

I already noticed a problem with equalizing.... if I got cold and try to inhale to clear my nose (sorry, don't know English term), I have a feeling my eardrums will collapse, never had this "problem" being a non diver.
