Stay on US 280 about a mile past Russell Hospital and take a right at the intersection with the huge American Flag. This is Alabama 63. Kowaliga Bridge is 12 miles from this intersection. Go across the bridge and take the first right. You will find Church in the Pines on your right and Kowaliga Marina on your left. You will see a barracade straight ahead and that is the old Alabama 63 roadbed.

Safe is a loose term at best but i have not had my vehicle bothered.

I guess I'll see if my dive buddy can lock my keys in his car...I'm very protective of my car :) I need to get a non-electronic key made, so I can just take it underwater with me...

Yeah, you can lock them in my car. I don't have fancy electronic keys :) so I'll be able to keep mine on me. I'll most likely be in a red Ford Escort ZX2 (the ZX2 part makes it sounds way cooler than it is). We could meet up around 10 or 11, I'm not all that much of a morning person myself (off work today and slept till 2pm :11: ) I'm hoping that there is a place to change cloths at, as neither of our vehicles really lend themselves to donning a wetsuit. As far as a place to meet, Alexander city would be ok if you think you could find Kowlaidga Marina that would be even better, from Tom's directions it dosen't seem that far off of 280.

Tom what types of food does sinclaires serve?

The key just has an electronic chip in it, but I'm afraid to get it wet, 'cause it's my only key. Nothing would suck worse than discovering you can't start your car...hundreds of miles away from your house!

I think I can follow those directions just fine...I'll meet you at the Kowaliga Marina.
11am would be wonderful...it should be nice and warm outside! :D

I'm just going to wear my bikini under my clothing, so changing into the wetsuit won't be particularly hard...I plan on bringing a really large beach towel (or maybe a blanket I don't mind getting wet) in order to change back into dry clothing. I've had to drive all the way from Morrison Springs back to Tuscaloosa in a wet bikini before :D
That kinda sucked....and I don't plan on doing that again!

Have you ever dove this lake before? My compass navigation skills kinda suck...and I don't want to be the first person ever in history to get lost in the middle of a lake LOL

I'll PM you my cell phone number, just in case I get lost and don't show up or something...

TTYL! :)

Sounds good. Morrison was beautifull huh...I hate what the're doing to the place. As far as compass navigation I'm pretty good, a few of my dives so far have been in the lake with low vis though I have never been to this spot.

Sinclairs serves everything from hamburgers to fancy stuff. They have killer onion rings and very cold beer.

Sinclair's Restaurants : Kowaliga

If you stay near the structure you shouldn't get lost - You'll have a grand time.
The only changing facility they have is a bush or the bathroom at the marina. We usually just use a towel.

When you get out in the shallows and find the Christmas trees out there be sure to focus your vision in the water column for something that looks like a mucous ball, then look at it closely. There are fresh water jellyfish out there. Might be too cold for them just yet but you never know.

If you all go again next Thursday I'm wanting to try out Lake Martin. I would like to join you all.
