Anyone dove this lake before? My Brother and I will be there this coming weekend (we arrive Thursday afternoon) and thinking of blowing some bubbles together. I've been there once and it seems like a very clean lake. Any idea's where to rent a tank with air? We will be flying into the BHM airport and driving up (I-20 to I-65 to Exit 299, Dodge City), so info on dive shops along the way which might rent a couple of tanks to some out of state divers, or any other info would be appreciate.

See this very recent thread about possible diving in SmithLake

As for local dive shops, the closest would be Baracuda Divers in Culman. There is a small shop in Hayden AL, but I don't think they are a full time shop. (I've never been to it).

Other than that, Dive Sports is north of Smith Lake about 30-40 minutes north of Culman or you can stop at a LDS in B'ham.

We will be heading out to dive the lake in June I hope. You are more than welcome to join us.

Thanks for the offer Brian, I'll be there this weekend and am going to give those cold waters a try!!

You will have to post a report so we know what we are getting into.
