I have worn my mask under my trunks.

I do it sometimes. Mask under the hood is pretty common in So Cal. It is helpful during surf entries when it is pretty easy to get a mask knocked off.

Put another vote in, for outside. Always done it that way, the only downside is launching the mask across the parking lot when you forget it's outside the hood. It's amazing how far one of those suckers will fly. Done that a few times but the mask always survided to dive another day.

I tried wearing my mask strap under my hood -- but couldn't figure out what to do with my snorkel

What's a snorkle?

Mask under beenie yes, mask under hood no..

I can't help but wonder if a "mask leash" would be useful in case you end up working for the Chuck Norris Dive Institute. (Something like a bit of bungee attaching the back of the strap to a necklace, perhaps?)

Something with bungee around you neck that the DIR guys haven't come up with yet?
