Hi, I got my certification last summer in Aruba. I am a volunteer at the Georgia Aquarium. I wanted to see if there were any other volunteers. I'm part of the dive program but haven't heard anything on this. Would like some info on that. Or any experiences on volunteering so far. Thanks..

I'm not familiar with the regulations at the Georgia Aquarium, but I know at the aquariums here in Texas, you are required to have either 25 logged dives or 20 hours bottom time before being considered for the dive program. Best of luck in your endeavors with the dive program at the Georgia Aquarium.

Oh, to live in the southeast. What I wouldn't give to be able to dive in that aquarium.

You can dive in the georgia aquarium? Anyone have a website or something of the such with info about it? I only have a 3 hour drive... sounds like it would be well worth it!

I would be interested...52 dives...over 24 hours TBT...Nitrox cert...

yeah they have a volunteer dive program. They're suppose to get up and running within the year that the Aquarium opened up. There's no policy as far as I know about the number of dives you have to have prior. But volunteers have to dedicate their time for a year, that's the policy. Supposedly customers have to have reservations right now to go. I don't, I can just go whenever I feel like it. http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/aboutUs/volunteer.aspx That is the website on the information. i hear if you're not already a volunteer, it's getting difficult to get in. I made sure I got in before the aquarium opened up so I wouldn't have to worry about it. There's classes you have to take though. Good luck to anyone that's interested.

I have heard that at minimum, you must be rescue certified to dive as a volunteer at the Georgia Aquarium. I've been diving at the aquarium in Tampa for the past 3 years and that is also the requirement here, along with DAN, O2, first aid and pass a competency test. We only have about 40 volunteer divers and could use more.

That's very interesting..Will have to look into it. I wonder why they made a copy of my certification and didn't say anything about any minimum requirements. I know there's a test or something you have to do to prove that you're not going to drown :-/
