Do any SandEaters hang out here? I mean besides the great Melvin Pasley...

By the way, I also want to give my kudos to Melvin for being such a great welcomer (is that a word) to us new guys. He's the kind of guy who is willing to help, very knowledgeable, a great encourager, and just makes us new guys feel welcome. :snorkel:

Melvin, YOU DA' MAN !!!! :yelclap:

Haven't tried eating sand lately, will give it a try tommorrow...........

Shaka -> :boxing_sm <- Me

not that its a usual occassion that I'm chomping on grit, but I have had the experience of doing many things with sand in my teeth...(just use your imagination).

But really, what is sandeaters? I saw a link to a sand eaters web diretory for dive destination maps. Was wondering what this whole gritty-in-the-teeth thin was about. Do tell?

The SandEaters is "...little more than a scheduling organization. It's sole purpose is to schedule a Sunday morning beach dive and notify those who have requested to be on the list." Their website is www.sandeaters.org.

I've doveded with them twice (well, once actually; just met with them the other time), and it seems like usually around 10 people show up at a preplanned location (schedule on their website) and pair up and dive. A couple weekends ago we dove up near you, jessejean, at Nicholas Canyon, just south of the Ventura Cty line. This Sunday we're meeting at Woods Cove in Laguna.

The info on Woods Cove can be found at www.sandeaters.org, click on sandeater dive sites, then Woods Cove, then Woods Cove again. I think the regular meeting time is 8am.

I am working on updaating the dive site location information on the sandeater sites. I have pretty well got Los Angeles County done, and Orange county is next. The http://www.sandeaters.org dive sites will get you there. You can also check the dive schedule and then just click on the dive site for that day. If you are on the e-mail list, then when you or someone wants to dive a different day or location, you can send an e-mail to the mail list. Sandeaters dives have anywhere between 2 and 30 divers show up for a dive depending on the popularity of the dive site and weather etc.
