Any recent new science that makes a dive computer obsolete?

I spoke too soon. It was back in ERR mode before I got it to the pressure pot. I think it best to write this one off and pull another one out of the drawer. Maybe I will crack it open and salvage the battery and oil...
I would disconnect the wire, re-solder it and try the "resetting" again.

My first dive computer was an Aladin Pro sport, then moved on to a Delta P VR2, then HW OSTC2 now a Shearwater Petrel. Would happily use my old Aladin for any air no deco dive today, would rather use the old Aladin Pro than any current POS Sunto computer currently on the market.
