I was also going to suggest Aqua Cat Cruises out of Nassau.

They dive the Exumas. They have a 28 foot powerboat that follows at all times and offers non-diving activities for people like your wife. They took us to the beach, hikes, snorkeling, to visit Iquanas in the marine park, fishing, etc.... They even had kayaks. My mom didn't dive and loved every minute because it was always so pretty and the beaches were so nice.

So while you are diving she could do some of those activities or just relax on the sun deck or in the hammocks. It is such a spacious boat that she would be fine and then could see you every time you got out of the water. It sounds like you might get to spend more time with her that way. The cabins were really nice too. All ocean view and they have king beds.

It is a very very nice liveaboard and beats and others I have been on!! They do tend to book pretty far out though.

check them out!

As others say it's more about the attitude of the wife. If she's cool with socializing and reading books, then it's good, if she needs you to make her happy, forget it.

Ive seen liveaboard non divers enjoy themselves. Same can be said at a good all inclusive dive resort like Anthonys Key on Roatan, we have a few non divers there last year and none complained.

Can't hardly beat Maui

A great suggestion also. Quality op.

It really depends on what your spouse wants out of a vacation. If they're the type to really just wants to "get away" and is happy to take a stack of novels along and read, or watch DVD's then it might work. As mermaid77 said, the Aquacat had shore excursions as well, but they are usually dependent on where the diving since the range of the launch is limited. They were VERY accomodating though and would probably make a special effort to go more places if there was demand.

OTOH, if $spouse is more interested in shopping excursions, and local "cuture" then a liveaboard is probably not the answer. You're going to be holed up with the same 20 or so people all week, though on a boat like the Aquacat there are several places you can go hide for some quiet. That, and the rooms there were a decent enough size - as long as lying on the bed is what you're after - don't expect easy chairs in the room!

On our recent trip my wife generally only did 2 dives a day, out of the 4-5 that were offered. I usually did 1 or 2 a day more than her. She was perfectly happy going back to the room and reading, or hanging out in the salon. As the week went on it seemed like the whole crowd was more likely to be comfortable popping in a DVD and relaxing.
