I rings are rubber. I perform the same maintenance on all my orings (except in my regulator).

Yes they want a little bit of silicone grease, just enough to make them shiny.

The silicone will keep the rubber fresh and keep the ring from pulling and tearing as the fit closes in. It may even contribute to making a perfect seal by helping to close minute voids. The stuff you linked to will be just fine.

Yes. as mentioned above.

I had a brand new light leak I think because they didn't lube the oring from the factory. Great customer service they sent me replacements and a different style to try because of the trouble.

Any time an Oring must slide past one of it's mating surfaces to get to it's final sealing area it must be lubed. It must slide into place undistroted. If you install it dry it will likely roll or be crimped as it moves past it's mating surfaces and it will leak. For things like lites where there is a long travel distance I very lightly grease the mating surface as well as the Oring to avoid wiping the grease off the Oring as it slides into place.

Thanks for reminding me! (haven't done that yet this year...haven't used the primary, so....)

But yeah...couldn't hurt!

(now where's that dang silicone grease???)
