At the Scuba Show last month, Scott showed me how to rethread the ripcords. It was so easy that I figured out what he was doing before he finished actually threading it! I just ordered my Zena and it's on the way as we speak! Can't wait to get my hands on it!!! :D

Ya know, I had the same experience.

I was looking to buy Zeagle due to the numerous recommendations and an LDS that I don't work with anymore said I wouldn't be interested in that because it's too hard to rethread - I might even have to bring it back to them so they could do it. That was quickly followed up with "Here, try this Scubapro..."

Nonsense!

I found an LDS that actually let me rip the cord and then schooled me in re-threading...

I took that same BC to the counter and bought it.

Whatever to the morons!

Zeagle is the nuts!

There might be simpler weight ditching systems, but it's hard to imagine one - that would be as secure, as quickly deployed, and as reliable.

It might take a few minutes to rethread the cables in the unlikely circumstance that you need to ditch, but they ditch faster than the other brands that I have seen, I'd say that's better than a fair trade.

I dove and still dive (on ocasion) a Zeagle ranger for may years. The rip cord system is great. I have done several practice dumps in open water (10ft depth sandy bottom) and the weights come right out. The system is great with gloves there is little velcrow to get your glove stuck to unlike the majority of BC's out there. In conclusion great BC and great weight release system.

As soon as I unpacked my new Brigade from ScubaToys, my non-diving spouse said "what's this red handle for?" - zzzzziiiiiiiiiiippppp! Took me all of about 2 minutes to figure it out and re-thread it - couldn't have been easier.

 Now that's funny!!!!

One point: Was the LDS owner saying it "might" be complicated, and that he would be happy to do it for you if you couldn't figure it out (which is nice of him, if slightly insulting considering how easy it is), or was he saying that you could ONLY reset the weight pockets by bringing it back and there might be a charge for it?

In the first scenario, he's being extra nice, if overly so, to make a sale. Kudos... kinda. In the other instance, he's either ignorant, lying, trying to take advantage, or some combination of the three.

Thresa:
I was told by the local dive shop that if you pull the cords then you have to bring the BC in to have the cords put back in.

The first thing my wife and I did when we got our Zeagle BC's was to study the ripcords. Then we pulled the cords on one BC (fearing that without the other one for reference we might not get them back in). It was easy to re-thread them. The first BC took about 5 minutes since we'd never done it before but the second only took a minute or so per side. I wouldn't dream of letting somebody in a shop do this.

I asked the guy at the LDS if I could pull the cord to see how easy it was to pull and how it worked. He said that I would rather you not because it's really complicated and takes a long time to put the cord back in. I asked him well what happens if I ever have to pull the cord? He then told me that I would probably have to bring it back to the shop to have them put the cord back in.

After all of the comments here on the board, I think the guy must not have been very familar with the product, but who knows what his motives were. I really appreciate eveyone's input. The Zena has been by far the most comfortable BC that I have tried on, but I couldn't get past the comments from the LDS. I'm really glad that I came to scuba board for clarrification.

Your welcome and I might point out not only did you get a lot of positive responses, you got one from Zeagle. Not many companies are so responsive to their customers, you can't go wrong with the Zeagle.
